State Project

With school in full swing, the projects have begun. Katie had to construct a State project...they use a concoction of peanut butter, honey and dry milk. So in fact their project turns into an edible project. However, I did have to give Katie some strict instructions to not eat hers...as the dry milk that I had in the house expired in 2009. But I was not about to buy a new box that would in turn expire like the one I had already. I mean really, other than homemade hot chocolate, what do you use dry milk for? And why can't you just buy a small container of it? I will NEVER EVER use a full container of dry milk.

Which brings me to a very funny story of expired product...we went to visit Brian's brother Bob and his wife Roxane and kids...Rhett, Megan and Jillian. When we woke up at their house that morning, Bob made us breakfast...pancakes....kids were SUPER excited, as they love pancakes. As we were eating...Matt says..."These pancakes don't taste like Grandma's" - as I am shushing them, as not wanting to make Bob feel bad...Brian gets up to look at the box of Bisquick...and yep, you guessed it...it expired like 2 years prior to us eating it. We laughed so hard...but the moral of the story is that, we all survived and nobody got sick, so I guess Katie would have been fine to eat her state project! :)

Here is Katie's project...her state was Virginia!

And yes, she did eat the candy off the state...of which to make note of...the licorice is the river, the gum drop is a mountain, and there is a chocolate star behind the gum drop for the Capital - Richmond.
